read TODAY's newspaper dated 02.06.06. this particular article caught my eye.

"A Bashing and A Singaporean's Shame"

SO DULAN!!!!!

This writer was on this bus service 851 from Chinatown to Yishun. She witnessed this incident which made her feel sick. She saw this young Singaporean shouted at this foreign worker "You want to stare at me?" followed by slamming of the worker's head against the window of the bus.

The hapless worker did not retaliate even though he was kicked on the face for just showing the gesture of "holding up his hands and shaking his head". Luckily the writer and her friend was there to help him out.

One thing, NONE of the passengers NOR the DRIVER helped the worker. WTH!

and worst! The bus driver drove away after the writer alighted the bus with her friend and the worker? WHY did not he drive over to the nearest police post? WHY didnt he stop THAT guy?

mayb the passengers are alone and will get hurt by that aggressive fella. IMHO, if they intervened.

Perhaps, the reasons why the driver did not interfer with it:

- the police may just slap the fella with some fine or community services only.
- Fella may take revenge on the driver because he knows the driver's schedule.

This reminded me of another incident which happened long ago.

This young chap was being chased by a group of people. Seeing a bus turning into the bus stop, he quickly board it, hoping to shake off them. Unfortunately, the group somehow managed to get into the bus and continued what they intended to do.

I have worked with foreign workers before though there are some bad apples. But its unfair to treat ALL of them with disdain. My experiences with them WERE and ARE very pleasant. They are very polite, hardworking and sometimes even MORE gentlemenly than the guys i know/seen. I felt totally pampered by them. Oh... they even whip up some really yummy food!

Just remember, not ALL foreign workers are looking for trouble here. Some just wants to work hard so as to remit the money to their families who's depending on them. While the bad apples... as you know.
